On March 2, Yael Tamar, combining her rich personal experience and expertise on the subject of fintech and proptech, gave a well-attended talk on “Real Estate Tokenization as a Bridge to Finance 2.0,” as a guest on Stefan Tsvetkov’s podcast, Finance Meets Real Estate. Having suffered first-hand the effects of a centralized financial system in Crimea, Yael recounted the experience of her country changing hands—twice—and learning the meaning of a devalued currency. The desire to see a more decentralized financial system, DeFi, is what propelled Yael to co-found SolidBlock.

Marking International Women’s Day, the Cyprus Fintech Summit: held a virtual panel session on March 8, with several notable all-women speakers, discussing the role of Women in Fintech. Paneling alongside Tamar Yael were  Eva Kaili – a Member of the European Parliament; Gisele Karekezi – Marketing and Communications Manager at Luge Capital; Natale Mastoroudes – Head of Human Resources; Aikaterini Konstantinidi – Director at Credit Suisse; and Dusica Lukac – Partner at DL Capital Partners.

Soon after the online event with Cyprus Fintech Summit, Yael chaired a panel of her own on March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day. This was a valuable and fun conversation with women who have impacted the fintech world. They discussed their well-earned rise to the top of their field while overcoming gender equality and equity challenges. They also shared why women founders of start-ups have more fun. Yael’s special guests were Natalia Karayaneva, Propy Inc. CEO, and Firdosh Sheikh, co-founder/CEO of DRIFE. Despite being from disparate backgrounds and nationalities, each of these smart women related their experiences of sexualized office politics.

VC Shark-Tank Pitching Session: DeFi, Blockchain, Crypto

Shark-Tank Pitching Session is an online event where tech startup founders e-meet invited investors, business angels, active CVC and VC firms, to pitch their company’s core identity  and get immediate feedback! The aim is to empower startup teams in their fundraising journey, help active investors find new promising startups for their pipeline and facilitate deal-making between participants. This session was a special edition as it focused on Blockchain, NFT, Crypto and DeFi startups, giving the opportunity to learn from the best DeFi i startups and active DeFi investors in 2021! During this session, Yael Tamar adroitly pitched the value of SolidBlock’s property-backed digital securities and issuance platform to invited investors. 

Atlas One

George Nast, CEO & Co-Founder of Atlas One, hosted a webinar on March 17,  in which Yael dove deep into the world of real estate digital securities.  She gave the participants a look into world-class expertise in London residential real estate and introduced them to SolidBlock, the top digital securities platform that issued the most famous digital security, the AspenCoin. After presenting the AspenCoin case study, there was a discussion about the Real Estate Digital Securities market and at the end, there was enough time for a Q&A session.

Yael Tamar talked on two separate occasions about the Institutional Adoption of Tokenisation at the Blockchain Africa Conference 2021: From Hype to Mainstream., on March 18. Attending this year’s online event were speakers and delegates from more than 35 countries, including investors, startups, enthusiasts, developers, corporations, policymakers, and regulators. This was s a chance for networking as the conference brought  together top thought-leaders, pioneers, and progressive professionals from across industries like finance, insurance, logistics, utilities, legal, media, and more, to create  an ecosystem for all to learn, network, and collaborate.

Yael was interviewed on Matt Kreiser’s podcast show and talked about current topics related to tokenizing real and estate. They discussed how tokenizing real estate onto the blockchain helps ordinary people; why tokenizing real estate increases liquidity and unlocks value; a new rent-to-own model that will help working-class people own equity and more. 

Matt is a journalist, commentator and analyst passionate about pursuing the truth, something he describes as the greatest challenge and most exciting adventure. In an age of confusion, bickering and divisiveness Matt believes that how one interprets the news is often more important than the news itself.

During Yael’s visit to Dubai to partake in the Future Blockchain Summit this past December, she was one of the panelists invited to discuss Digital Currencies, Privacy and the Blockchain: Preventing a Dystopian Future. Fellow panelists were 

Oleksandr Borniakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, Ukraine, Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Blockchain Center and Justas Pikelis, Co-Founder, Monetha. This discussion focused on how the introduction of blockchain-based digital currencies are posing new risks and uncertainties to potentially disrupt financial systems and in extension nations’ resilience and sovereignty. They also related to the question “how can preparation and regulation mitigate these risks to the financial ecosystem if we can’t agree on what they are?” This was a fascinating panel where all the experts shared future scenarios, both the ideal and the worst case.
