MLK Day – asset ownership as a part of the ‘dream’

Solidblock Salutes Dr. Martin Luther King on MLK day and continues to work toward providing access to affordable housing.

Dr. King dedicated his life to advancing freedom and equality in 1960’s America.

Half a century later his legacy is celebrated but much work remains. People of color are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder and, all too often, lack access to basic human rights such as safe and affordable housing. The COVID-19 crisis has substantially intensified needs. A recent report from the Urban Institute, found that 1 in 4 black and Latino renters didn’t pay their rent in May 2020, compared with 14% of white renters.

Building on Dr. King’s lessons, Solidblock devised a novel approach to tackle the obstacles to  the construction of quality, safe, affordable housing that through tokenization will also transform lifelong renters to proud home owners.
